Machine & Equipment Safety

“Machine and Equipment Safety” is especially designed for all machine operators, mechanics and technicians. Operators will learn to identify the common machine hazards and how they are controlled. The course will train operators to properly prepare for their equipment safe operation (what critical parts to check) as well as to maintain safe work practices, what to do when a machine emergency occurs and when to ask for help from mechanics and technicians when the needs arise. Workers whose duties and responsibilities involve the operations and upkeep of equipment/machines will learn about important equipment/machine guarding concepts as well as how to perform zero mechanical state shutdown procedures and describe the required lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures as part of PM procedures.

Rationale:
Equipment and machineries are very important component of productivity. Operators have to keep them running in order to produce either services or products. And these same machineries and equipment, when not well kept and properly operated can be sources of operators’ injuries, material/product damage and even property damage. This training will address loss control issues associated with operating and maintaining equipment and machineries used either in producing products or providing services to clients
OBJECTIVES
Machine & Equipment Safety Training will enable participants to:

• Identify hazards associated with the equipment and machineries;
• Control machine and equipment hazards;
• Explain the function and benefits of machine guards and controls;
• Develop an applicable safety and operations checklist for equipment and machineries;
• List common rules and procedures for safely operating machines and equipment;
• Describe the need for wearing personal protective equipment; and
• Describe lockout and tagout procedures.
